Electrical problems we can help with
Battery keeps dying or needs frequent jump-starts?
A battery that goes dead overnight or after a few days parked can make every trip uncertain. We investigate battery drain, charging problems, and related electrical faults. Battery drain testing helps identify what is drawing power after the vehicle is turned off. Tell us how long it takes for the battery to die and whether it has already been replaced.
Car won't start or only starts sometimes?
When you try to start your vehicle, do you hear a click, hear the engine trying to start, or get no response at all? Each is a useful clue. We investigate no-start problems to help you understand what needs attention. Tell us what you hear and see and whether the problem changes when the engine is hot or cold.
Warning lights, rough running, or electrical faults?
A warning light or fault code is a starting point for diagnosis. It does not by itself prove that a part needs to be replaced. We investigate electrical faults and problems with vehicle electronics, including concerns that affect how your vehicle starts or runs. Tell us which lights are on, what has changed while driving, and whether the vehicle was recently repaired.
Windows, locks, lights, or accessories not working?
A window stuck open, lights that flicker, or an accessory that works only occasionally can disrupt your day. We trace electrical faults involving wiring, connections, switches, and related controls. Tell us which features are affected and whether they stopped working together or one at a time.
Classic car wiring and electrical upgrades
Older vehicles may have aging wiring, poor connections, or modifications from previous repairs. We help repair and update classic car wiring. Tell us about the problems you're having and any upgrades you're planning so we can discuss the electrical work involved and where to start.
Electrical diagnostic support for repair shops
Need help tracking down an electrical fault in a customer's vehicle? Colorado Auto Electric works with other repair shops as well as individual owners. Call to discuss the symptoms, fault codes, testing already completed, and repairs attempted. That background helps us understand the concern and coordinate the next step.
Before you request an appointment
How much does diagnostic testing cost?
Diagnostic testing is billed at $175 per hour, starting with a one-hour minimum ($175). Depending on the problem, a two-hour minimum ($350) may be needed to trace the cause. If more testing is needed beyond the time you've approved, we'll provide an estimate for the additional diagnostic work and get your approval before continuing.
Do I need to know what is wrong?
No. Describe what you notice in your own words. A description such as “The battery dies after two days” or “The window stops halfway” gives us a useful starting point.
What information should I bring?
Have the year, make, and model ready, along with when the problem began, how often it happens, and any recent repairs or added accessories. Photos or a short video of a problem that comes and goes can help you explain the concern. Include any diagnostic reports from another shop.
Can I wait while the vehicle is checked?
Please plan to drop off your vehicle and be prepared to leave it for a few days. We do not offer while-you-wait service. Problems that come and go can take time to reproduce. Call ahead to discuss scheduling, the initial diagnostic work, and how long your vehicle may need to stay.
